WELCOME
The Tripura Jal Board Act, 2020 (The Tripura Act No.12 of 2020) has been published in the extra ordinary issue of The Tripura Gazette, Agartala on 28th October 2020. The Act comes into force with effect from 21.10.2020.
The Board has been established to discharge the functions of water supply and sewerage within Urban Local Body areas. Presently scarcity of drinking water is a burning problem all over the country. Most of the people are not at all aware that the value of water is beyond any price. Water is natural resources through available plenty in the planet but unevenly distributed. It is observed that misuse or wastage this priceless gift of nature in regular manner. So it is felt necessary to implement a strict law to prevent the misuse or wastage of ground or surface water.
To streamline the water supply and sewerage collection system in the Urban Local areas and make it a self sustainable, it is felt necessary to constitute an independent body like Tripura Jal Board to run the water supply and sewerage system in proper manner.
